The Anerio brothers, born in Rome to a trombone-playing father, were among the most significant composers of the post-Palestrina generation. Felice succeeded Palestrina as composer to the papal chapel (the last to hold this office) and worked for a number of Roman churches and private patrons. His younger brother Giovanni worked in Rome, but also in Verona and in Warsaw, as chapel master to the King of Poland. The workshop will explore a number of sacred works by both composers for a variety of vocal forces.

Noel O'Regan is a former Reader in music at the University of Edinburgh where he retains an honorary research fellowship. He is currently engaged in the study of the role of music in Roman lay confraternities of the late 16th & early 17th centuries. For many years, her directed the Edinburgh Renaissance Singers, and was co-investogator of the 2008-2011 project "Singing the Reformation" which highlighted the music and the contexts of the post-Reformation Wode partbooks in Edinburgh University library.
