About Early Music Forum of Scotland

Welcome!

Early Music Forum of Scotland is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, OSCR no. SCO54718.

The Early Music Forum of Scotland (EMFS) brings together singers, players, listeners and instrument makers from around Scotland with an interest in the medieval, renaissance and baroque periods. Our members range from singers to players of viols, recorders, sackbutt, cornett and more!

EMFS is run by and for its members and is self-funded.

We organise regular Saturday morning workshops in Edinburgh. Our early music choir is open to all singers with some previous choral sightreading experience; our Viol Consort Cafe is for viol players who can hold a line by themselves; and our Go4B'rque sessions are for players of baroque and modern strings, at A440, who enjoy playing baroque music.

We also organise occasional choral and instrumental workshops and coaching weekends, and early music performances in public spaces. Most of our events currently take place in Edinburgh (but we’d love to find people willing to organise events elsewhere in Scotland).
