DESCRIPTION:\n	\n		TRY A VIOL\n		an introductory workshop with Alison Kinde

 			\n			\n		\n		  \n		Come and Try a Viol - a popular instrument of the Re
 naissance and Baroque periods - in a small group of complete beginners. Al
 ison Kinder is a leading UK viol player and an excellent and supportive tu
 tor. Viols will be supplied.\n		\n		 \n	\n\n	\n		 \n	\n\n	\n		\n	\n\n	\n
 		When and where: Sunday 13th September 2026\, 1.30pm to 5pm. Inverleith S
 t Serf's Church Centre\, 1A Clark Rd\, Edinburgh EH5 3BD - an accessible v
 enue\, close to several bus stops and with free on-street parking.\n		\n		
 About viols: A viol\, or viola da gamba\, is a bowed and fretted string in
 strument\, played vertically. Viols usually have six or seven gut strings\
 , a flat back\, and tied frets. Treble\, tenor and bass viols are often pl
 ayed in consort. You can find more info about viols on the Viola da Gamba 
 Society website here.\n		\n		About Alison Kinder: Alison is a founder memb
 er of Chelys consort of viols. She also performs with The Linarol Consort
 \; Musica Secreta\; Apollo's Revels\; Dei Gratia\; and Sounds Historical
 . Alison is a keen teacher and is co-director of Rondo Viol Academy\, whi
 ch runs weekend courses for players of all standards.\n	\n\n	\n		\n		Who c
 an take part?  Anyone who is comfortable reading music in one or more of 
 the treble\, alto and bass clefs. You don't need previous instrumental exp
 erience to take part. Modern string players are very welcome!\n		\n		What 
 does it cost? £30 for EMFS members and £35 for non-members. A concession
  fee of £16 is available at personal discretion. The fee includes tuition
 \, use of a viol\, music and light refreshments.  \n		 \n	\n\n	\n		Parti
